12/4 Update

Paper is finally polished and finished. Just sent it  and hopefully I will get a really good grade on it. This is the hardest I have ever worked on a paper or any class assignment for that matter. I hope I will be able to use it for something else other than just an assignment that was required for this class. Otherwise it will just sit on my computer. But at least I learned a few new strategies that I can use in my future classroom.

11-26 update

Adding the last bit of information and then it will be time for polishing. At first this paper wasan't too hard but the farther I got into it the harder it became. I started runnung out of things to talk about. I also really don't like using google docs to write this paper. It's really hard to change things and takes a long time to change the whole document when you have several pages. Sometimes google docs wouldn't let me copy and paste information, which was really frustrating when I was trying to add information to my paper. I don't think it's a problem with my computer though because I was having this problem on the computers at school too. Oh well, I'm really glad this paper is almost over and then I won't have to deal with it anymore.

11/15 Update

I never remember to update this thing. Ok so I am almost at my 15 page mark. I have added the info from the personal interview I did with a Mason HS special ed teacher. It was really helpful to do this interview because she gave me a lot of first hand experience. Also there were more ideas that I got from this interview that I could research more in depth. For instance IEPs and what they are and how they are helpful.
I really hope I will be able to a little more information to finish the next 5 pages. It shouldnt be too hard to do. I didnt think I would be able to get this far with the topic I chose.

Almost done with page number 10!!! That means I'm half way there. I really cannot wait to be done with this paper. It is killing me. I am completely done researching and now I'm putting all the pieces together. I received the answers from my interview yesterday. That was very helpful. I enjoy being able to talk to real teachers and get their input on topics. Hopefully the next 10 pages fly by.

Week 1 Research Paper

Over the past week I have started doing the reseach for my paper. I am writing my paper on learning disabilities that I may one day face in the classroom as a future teacher. I am narrowing my focus to two main learning disabilities...Dyslexia and Autism. I know that there are so many different learning disabilities out there and there's no way I would be able to cover all of them in 20 pages. Not to mention that the research would take me forever. I've been looking up information on these two learning disabilities to be able to better understand what they actually are. I have also sent out a short list of questions to a couple friends and family members who are teachers. This way I will be able to get some first hand experience as to how to deal with learning disabilities in the classroom.
This paper is still very scary to me. I have no idea where all this research will take me and whether or not I will be able to find enough info to fill 20 pages. 20 pages is the most I have ever been required to write about anything. Im so used to the typical 8-10 page paper and those have been hard enough to write.
